The first is Main Street, where the Drexel Theatre's vintage marquee anchors a lit commercial strip that doubles as the town's front porch, with Capital University's campus adding its glow a block south. The second is residential: Bullitt Park's mansion blocks put on one of the most photographed neighborhood displays in central Ohio — garland swagged across iron fences, candles in leaded windows, floodlit wreaths on Georgian pediments, and rooflines traced in disciplined warm white — with the Governor's Residence in their midst setting a formal tone. Jeffrey Mansion, the city's parkland manor, hosts the civic season's programming. Central Ohio's freeze arithmetic applies as everywhere — hard freezes typically land early-to-mid November, so crews hang through late October and the first November weeks and the town lights around Thanksgiving. Bexley's craft notes: slate and tile roofs forbid staples and foot traffic outright, iron fence and gate lighting is a normal line item on the mansion blocks, and the tight grid means a single crew can serve several neighboring homes in a day — coordinated bookings among neighbors are common and worth mentioning at quote time.

Bexley compresses a century of serious architecture into about two and a half square miles inside Columbus. North of Main Street, Bullitt Park holds the mansion blocks — Georgian, Jacobean, and Tudor piles under slate and tile that include the Ohio Governor's Residence — while the streets around Capital University and south toward Livingston step down through substantial brick four-squares, Dutch colonials, and arts-and-crafts houses on a dense, walkable grid. Almost everything predates 1940, which dictates the craft: steep original roofs that take clips and poles rather than fasteners and footsteps, ornate eave and dormer detail that rewards patient outlining, chimney clusters worth featuring, and a street-tree canopy planted generations ago whose trunks wrap as dramatically as anything on the house.
